Henry Keen is a DJ, music producer and performer based in London.

 

Henry’s musical passions include crate-digging and experimentation with analog synthesizers and sound FX. While his music doesn’t fit easily into genre boxes, Henry’s production is inspired by the diverse sample sources and heavy drums of Hip Hop beat-making, as well as an eclectic range of influences from his diverse record collection, in particular - classic Detroit Techno and UK Jungle/Drum n Bass.

 

Henry’s musical inspiration is intertwined with travel and cultural exchange. He is a member of Electric Jalaba, a sextet fusing Moroccan gnawa with dancefloor-focused electronics, and Soundspecies, an electronic duo who have recently explored the connections between traditional Afro-Cuban rhythms and contemporary dance music. He has performed internationally at festivals and events including RBMA (Seattle, US), Manana (Cuba), Mawazine (Morocco), Sonar (Barcelona), and Sunsplash (Antalya, Turkey) 

 

Henry hosts a regular show on Pyro Radio and has released music with record labels Brownswood Recordings, Burntprogress, Don’t Be Afraid, Strut and more. His productions have been played on BBC Radio1, Radio 6, 1Xtra, Worldwide FM, Rinse FM and NTS, amongst others.
